Why are athletes ditching Bluetooth headphones?

As a customer service agent, I'm constantly asked this question. A few athletes I've spoken with say the sound is fantastic, but they just can't stand wearing them. And to be fair, they aren't even quitting wireless audio; they are just tired of fighting with their gear.

And that makes sense, considering many people use earbuds which honestly aren't great when you're moving. If you do yoga or mobility work, you know the struggle of earbuds popping out mid stretch. We all know athletes need sleep for recovery, but sleeping with earbuds, especially if you're a side sleeper, is basically impossible. They feel like having a pebble stuck in your ear. Every time you shift, they make a noise that keeps you awake instead of helping you drift off.

Then there's the moisture issue. Earbuds seal the ear canal and trap sweat against your skin. I constantly hear from people dealing with ear irritation or infection caused by earbuds. Some were trying to push through a workout while their ears were essentially sweating into a plastic stopper.

That is why we intentionally created RunPhones® headphones. With their headband design, they stay in place without anything poking you in the ear. Also, since the headband is soft and moisture wicking, they are perfect whether you're stretching on a mat or sleeping on your side. You get the sound that helps you push through your workouts without any of that physical annoyance. Many customers have also said they forget they're wearing SleepPhones® headphones because of how comfortable they are.
