Is it better to work out with headphones or earbuds?
To be honest, there isn't one right answer; it depends entirely on how much you move.
With earbuds, the convenience is hard to beat for a quick run. However, if you've ever been in the middle of a stretch or a sprint and felt an earbud slip out, you know exactly how frustrating they can be. Plus after an hour of movement, heavy breathing, and sweating, those silicone tips can start to really bother your ears.
The big, clunky over the ear headphones sound great, but, due to their bulky size, they can also become sweaty once your heart rate climbs. They can feel cumbersome, like wearing a heavy helmet, during intense activity.
As a customer service agent, I tell folks that our headband-style headphones are a better option for movement because of how they sit. The ultra-thin, padded speakers lie flat against your head so there's no pressure on your ear canals. They also won't slip out while you're doing yoga or even if you accidentally drift off during a recovery session. For activities involving stretching or going to the gym, most people find the headband design much more reliable than fighting with earbuds. Plus, with its breathable, moisture wicking properties, it's perfect for keeping sweat at bay while achieving those gains.
Ultimately, it really comes down to your routine. If you want something small for your pocket, stick with earbuds. If you need heavy, noise cancellation at the gym, stick with the big headphones. However, if you want comfort that actually stays put while you move and allows your ears to "breathe," then I'd suggest trying SleepPhones® headphones.
