How do you think the rise of sleep technology is changing our sleep habits?

Sleep trackers, such as smartwatches and rings, have made us incredibly aware of our sleep patterns. This technology can help people take their rest and recovery as seriously as they take their diet, exercise, or blood pressure. People are obsessed with this data now, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. They want to optimize their rest, but figuring out how to improve those statistics can lead to frustration. As a customer service representative, I often speak with customers in this predicament.

When settling down, many people reach for their phone to play something calming such as white noise or a podcast. However, having that screen sitting right next to you can be a trap. What starts with picking an ambient background sound for sleeping ends thirty minutes later with you scrolling through social media. The addictive call of your feed paired with the device's blue light can sabotage your sleep.

Another saboteur of deep, restorative sleep can be your physical discomfort. I hear from many people who use earbuds but say they fall out as soon as they change position. Some side sleepers even say that the earbuds become jammed into their ears, causing irritation and pain.

While sleep trackers are perfect for measuring sleep patterns, having the proper gear can help optimize your sleep in general. While it seems like we are moving towards "invisible" sleep technology, people just want a quiet sanctuary that actually helps them drift off. That's why we intentionally designed SleepPhones® headphones. By nestling ultra-thin, padded speakers inside a soft, breathable headband, these allow you to comfortably listen to relaxing, ambient sounds while sleeping in any position. We also offer both pre-loaded and Bluetooth® versions, which allow you to play these sounds without worrying about the distracting blue light from your device.
