About SleepPhones
pajamas for your ears | sleep headphones | headphones for sleeping | first fleece headphones | sleeping headphones | earphones you can sleep in | headband headphones | sleep earphones | earbuds for sleep
AcousticSheep, LLC was created in 2007 when the two founders wanted to listen to Binaural beats for sleep but found that the existing headphones on the market were all too bulky sleep in, especially when laying on the side. One of them also had a hard time waking up some mornings and discovered that listening to binaural beats in the morning helped in the waking process as well. Therefore, the founders set out to create a headphone comfortable enough to sleep in for the entire night! After many experiments with various designs, speakers, wires, and fabric, the best model was found and perfected. SleepPhones fit like "pajamas for your ears!"
In an increasingly busy lifestyle, we need to take full advantage of every minute of each day, including the third of our lives spent resting. We do not have time to toss and turn, thinking about the previous day or the upcoming day. A neighbor's dog barking or a snoring family member only adds to the stress of trying to fall asleep. In a study published by Nature in 2005, 54% of respondents report problems with insomnia. The Surgeon General says that up to 70 million (over 20% of) Americans may suffer from chronic sleep loss or untreated sleep disorders. We have all noticed ourselves functioning suboptimally when we do not sleep well the night before, but not everyone is aware that lack of restful sleep can contribute to weight gain, headaches, high blood pressure, diabetes, depression, an impaired immune system, and ADD (attention deficit disorder). Lack of sleep can cause us to be tired, cranky, forgetful, and unable to concentrate. Children have more difficulty learning at school without a good night's sleep. Drivers falling asleep at the wheel causes more than 1,500 deaths a year. Major industrial accidents often occur because of sleep deprivation, and mistakes are made at work by sleepy employees. Sleep deprivation has even been used as a form of torture! Needless to say, getting a good night's sleep is vital to our overall health.
AcousticSheep, LLC feels strongly about the importance of a good night's sleep in the health and well-being of all people. We present to you a completely drug-free way to help you control your sleep! With our SleepPhones, you can wear headphones to bed and be completely comfortable, even if you are a "side sleeper" or a "back sleeper". You can listen to music or our specialized binaural beat tracks on your iPod, CD player, computer, or your MP3 player. As long as a device has the standard 3.5mm stereo headphone jack you can substitute the original headphones for SleepPhones. At this website, we have included some tracks you can download that play binaural beats to help you fall asleep or wake up.
Binaural beats ease the brain into a desired type of wave pattern via tones delivered to each ear in stereo. When one ear hears a certain pitched beat, and the other ear hears another very similar but slightly off beat, the brain will try to reconcile the two and generates a particular type of brain wave. Brain waves are closely related to the state of a person's brain - from awake and concentrating to drowsy to deep sleep. Therefore, by listening to the sleep tracks, you can induce a drowsy brain state. In the morning or when you're tired, you can gently rouse your brain by listening to the wake tracks. SleepPhones are specially designed to be suitable for delivering binaural beats, which is more than adequate for playing your favorite music as well. We have invested in high quality thin unobtrusive speakers with a 0-20khz frequency range. The speakers and cord are RoHS compliant, which means that they do not contain lead. The thin flexible cords and soft 100% polyester fabric have also been carefully chosen. The stitching is done by a hand-operated sewing machine to ensure exceptional stitching that will not unravel under normal use. The Velcro cord tie is included for your safety and comfort. We have packed each USA-assembled SleepPhones for an attractive presentation with minimal packaging waste.
