“In 2007, I had trouble falling back to sleep after patient phone calls late at night as a family doctor. My husband suggested that I listen to something to take my mind off of patient concerns. Since I didn't want to disturb my husband while he slept, I needed headphones or ear buds I could wear in bed. But there was nothing comfortable on the market. I couldn't sleep on my side with headphones, and ear buds are just painful. So I came up with stuffing speakers inside a headband. We found very thin high quality speakers, bought super soft fleece, and began sewing and soldering. We decided it was such a great invention that we had to start the SleepPhones company!”

The inventor and chief executive officer of SleepPhones is family doctor Wei-Shin Lai. She was inspired to design SleepPhones when she was on call for the emergency room. She had a hard time falling back to sleep after being awoken in the night by a phone call. With SleepPhones, she was able to relax her mind and drift back to sleep. She is the organizing and methodical mind behind SleepPhones.

Jason Wolfe is the chief technology officer and the creative driving force for innovation and opportunity. He sets up the website, sends out the orders, and arranges the sounds tracks with binaural beats.
AcousticSheep, LLC formed in 2007 when the two founders wanted to listen to Binaural beats for sleep but found that the existing headphones on the market were all too bulky sleep in, especially when laying on the side. Therefore, the founders set out to create a headphone comfortable enough to sleep in for the entire night! After many experiments with various designs, speakers, wires, and fabric, the best model was found and perfected. SleepPhones fit like "pajamas for your ears!"
